Definition and Use

The railway accessory emergency device is mainly used for emergency repairs and temporary connections of railway tracks. When the fishplate, bolts, or other connecting parts of the railway track are damaged, or in emergencies such as track fractures, the emergency device can quickly fix and connect the track, ensuring that trains can safely pass at low speed, buying time for subsequent thorough repairs.

Structure and Components

It generally consists of a main clamp and a fastening device. The main clamp is usually a specially designed metal structure that matches the shape of the rail, allowing it to closely fit the upper and lower surfaces and sides of the rail to ensure good contact and fixation. The fastening device includes bolts, nuts, or other similar locking components, which can securely clamp the rail by tightening these components. Some emergency devices may also have cushioning devices to alleviate the impact force generated when trains pass.

Working Principle

When installing the emergency device, the main clamp is first placed at the damaged part of the rail, ensuring that all parts of the clamp closely fit the rail. Then, the fastening device is used to tighten it, increasing the friction and clamping force between the clamp and the rail. When the train passes, the pressure and impact force exerted by the wheels on the rail are transmitted through the clamp and resisted by the clamping force of the clamp, thus maintaining the relative stability of the rail in both vertical and horizontal directions, preventing further damage or displacement of the rail.

Types

Standard emergency device: The structure is relatively simple and suitable for general track connection failures. It mainly relies on simple clamps and bolts to fix the rail, allowing for quick installation, but its ability to withstand larger impact forces may be limited.

Reinforced emergency device: It has a sturdier clamp and a more reliable fastening system, often equipped with additional reinforcement components such as ribs and cushioning pads. This type of emergency device can withstand greater train impact forces and is suitable for use in emergencies on busy main lines or heavy-load railway tracks.
