Definition and Basic Uses

The rail lifting clamp is a tool used for lifting and transporting steel rails. In the laying, maintenance, and recycling of old rails on railway tracks, it is often necessary to lift, move, or adjust the position of the steel rails. The rail lifting clamp plays a key role in ensuring the safety and stability of the rails during the lifting process.

Structural Features

Clamp Body: Generally made of high-strength metal materials (such as high-quality alloy steel), it has sufficient strength and rigidity. The shape of the clamp body is designed to tightly embrace the steel rail, with grooves or serrated structures on the inner side that match the shape of the rail to increase friction and prevent the rail from slipping during lifting.

Lifting Part: Includes a lifting ring or hole for connecting to the hook of a crane or other lifting equipment. The lifting ring is usually reinforced to withstand large tensile forces, ensuring safe lifting. Some rail lifting clamps may also be equipped with rotating devices, allowing the rail to rotate appropriately during lifting for easier position adjustment.

Fastening Device: Tightens the clamp body around the rail using bolts, nuts, or other quick-clamping devices. These fastening devices can adjust the tightness to accommodate different models and sizes of rails.

Working Principle

When using the rail lifting clamp, first place the clamp body in the appropriate position on the rail, ensuring that the inner side of the clamp body closely fits the rail. Then, use the fastening device to clamp the rail tightly, creating significant friction between the clamp body and the rail. When the crane or other lifting equipment applies upward tension through the lifting ring or hole, this friction can balance the weight of the rail, allowing it to be lifted stably and move with the lifting equipment.

Types

Standard Rail Lifting Clamp: Has a relatively simple structure and is suitable for general rail lifting tasks. This type of rail lifting clamp can typically meet the lifting needs of standard railway tracks (such as tracks with a standard gauge of 1435mm), with clamping force and load capacity varying according to different design specifications, but generally suitable for the lifting of medium and small-sized rails.

Heavy-Duty Rail Lifting Clamp: Features a stronger structure and greater clamping force, mainly used for large steel rails (such as those used for heavy-duty railways) or in special conditions (such as in strong wind environments or situations requiring high stability). The clamp body of heavy-duty rail lifting clamps is thicker, made of higher strength materials, and the fastening devices are more complex and reliable.
